The Blockchain Bonanza Awaits

Mark your calendars, folks! Blockshow Europe 2017 is gearing up to be an extravagant showcase of Blockchain wizardry. Taking place in the vibrant heart of Munich from April 5-7, this event is expecting more than 500 attendees, 24 jaw-dropping speakers, and over 20 exhibitors. It’s basically the Comic-Con for crypto enthusiasts – only without the capes (unless you count Bitcoin as a superhero).

Blockchain’s Coming of Age

According to a recent report from Bain & Company, many financial institutions think Blockchain will undergo a transformative revolution in the next three to five years. They’re guesstimating that the technology could save the global financial ecosystem a whopping $15-30 billion. But how do they plan to pull this off?

Marco Barulli, Co-founder of a tech powerhouse, succinctly puts it:

“Blockchain is still quite young and not ready for primetime. We need to solve scalability and attract a pool of talents.”

So, while it’s an exciting future, we might need to dial down the hype just a tad.

Deflated Expectations: R3 Consortium

Recently, the R3 Consortium decided to pivot away from public Blockchain tech, leaving many crypto fans scratching their heads in confusion. Marco reported,

“Banks are riding the Blockchain hype without truly understanding the pains they could alleviate.”

Talk about trying to fit a square peg in a round hole!

China: A Blockchain Force?

On another note, China is rapidly growing with new Starbucks popping up like mushrooms post-rain. But what’s fueling this expansion? Enter Alipay, with its interest in Blockchain. Could China become the Blockchain hub of the world? Maybe!

“Bitcoin isn’t ready for mainstream. Fees are insane, and transaction validation spins a roulette wheel of unpredictability,” Marco joked.

The Marriage of Public and Private Blockchains

IBM’s Ginni Rometty sees Blockchain as a game-changer, even more so than AI. But Marco warns that Blockchain isn’t designed for massive data sets yet. He believes:

“We must crack the identity conundrum before using Blockchain for sensitive data.”

So, it looks like before we go all-in, we need to think through some hiccups.

Intellectual Property and Blockchain: A Match Made in Heaven?

In the realm of intellectual property management, Blockchain offers an immutable solution. Marco opines,

“We need alternatives like side chains to make the magic happen.”

And without good governance, these dreams may remain just that—dreams. With all eyes on BlockShow Europe 2017, there are sure to be more tales to unfold.
