Unlocking Skills: Gods Unchained Introduces Sealed Mode for New Tournament Excitement

What is Sealed Mode?

Gods Unchained has spiced things up by rolling out a new gameplay format called Sealed Mode. Announced on September 13, this innovative feature allows players to compete using a semi-random selection of cards they receive at the start of the tournament. Unlike a trip to your local game store where cardboard is king, this mode shakes up the usual flow of digital card games. The idea? It’s to spotlight the skill of players, regardless of how extensive their card collections might be.

How It Works

Jumping into this fresh format requires a small entry fee of 15 Gods Unchained (GODS) tokens, costing around $2.65 at the time of writing. Once you fork over those tokens, you’ll be gifted with three gods to form the foundation of your deck. But wait, there’s more! You’ll also receive a wealth of 60 random cards pulled from various sets like Etherbots and Winter Wanderlands.

The Card Pool

Even though the card distribution is semi-random, there’s a sweet safety net included. Players are guaranteed a base level of variety—think a minimum of 12 cards that cost 3 mana or less. This ensures you can craft a deck capable of holding its own against the competition. After you’re done, you’re left to create a minimum 30-card deck and set off into battle. And yes, you need to stick to the cards you’ve been dealt; no gaming the system by bringing in your personal stash!

Compete and Conquer!

Now, once you’ve built your deck, the fun really begins! Players can continue battling until they either notch up seven wins or, on the flip side, bury themselves with three losses. The tournament rewards are distributed based on how well you perform, but snagging four or more wins unlocks exclusive cosmetic rewards that are just for Sealed Mode.

The Demands of Competition

Just like a rugged reality show, the competition gives you only one chance to prove your worth! Tackle match-ups head-on and escape unscathed. However, beware the lurking competitors—you’re not the only one trying to climb that leaderboard!

A Taste of Tradition

Sealed Mode pays homage to the traditional “sealed deck” tournaments commonplace in paper games like Magic: The Gathering. Yet, it stands apart in the digital universe, where collectors usually can’t own their cards in a tangible format. With Gods Unchained, each playable card functions as a non-fungible token (NFT); yes, you are literally collecting unique digital treasures!

The Future of Gaming

Immutable, the force behind Gods Unchained, is working tirelessly on making your experiences better. They’re cooking up a wallet strategy dubbed “Passport” aimed at easing player logins, and they’ve recently unleashed the zkEVM testnet, which promises enhanced scaling for Ethereum gamers.

Marked events like the arrival of Sealed Mode not only show the evolution of Gods Unchained but also hint at a broader revolution in how we view digital card games. Will this format be the new golden standard? Only the battle decks will tell!
