A recent poll conducted by Haun Ventures reveals that an overwhelming majority of likely voters in four key swing states support the notion of a decentralized internet. With 800 respondents from New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, the data offers a glimpse into how the ideals of Web3 could influence electoral outcomes.
The HODLers among Us
Interestingly, approximately 20% of those surveyed reported owning cryptocurrency or non-fungible tokens (NFTs). This group, often referred to as HODLers (those who “hold” onto their assets), seems to be driven by the desire for a more equitable economic landscape. A staggering 72% of HODLers in the poll indicated that their investment was motivated by the aspiration for a fairer system.
Community Control Wins Votes
The survey revealed that a resounding 91% of participants supported the idea of a “community owned, community governed” internet, emphasizing the public’s demand for greater control over personal information. Voters no longer want to feel like mere products in a corporate machine. They want their voices heard, and their privacy respected.
Bipartisan Agreement on Web3 Policies
While the voters leaned slightly Democratic, the desire for internet decentralization appears to transcend party lines. Haun Ventures noted that 55% of respondents would be less inclined to vote for candidates opposing decentralization policies. This might just be a wake-up call for politicians to embrace Web3 values.
A New Electorate Emerges
What’s truly fascinating is how Web3 voters represent a vibrant segment of the middle class that is younger and more diverse than the general population.
