The BlockShow Vibe Takes Flight
After an exhilarating experience at BlockShow Europe, the hype for BlockShow Asia 2017 was palpable. Gone were the old familiarity of European streets; instead, we found ourselves immersed in the pulsating heart of Asian blockchain culture. With a fresh motto – “Window to the Global Blockchain World” – we were ready to build connections that transcended borders.
Five Cities, Five Countries, One Journey
Our adventure kicked off in stunning Kuala Lumpur, zigzagging across cosmopolitan cities: Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong, and splashing down in the vibrant whirlpool of New Delhi. Each location greeted us with skilled local blockchain experts who were eager to share knowledge and insights.
Malaysia: The Awakening of Blockchain
Kuala Lumpur presented a picturesque start to our journey. Despite Bitcoin flowing outside the currents of local finance, it was fascinating to hear that innovation remains alive and kicking. A crowd favorite was Gary Goh of Metlife, who humorously pointed out the regulatory roadblocks hindering adoption. Nevertheless, the Malaysian government is nurturing blockchain ambitions through initiatives like MiGHT, providing a ray of hope for the future.
Singapore: Ready for Lift-off
In Singapore, we met Anson Zeall, who confidently conveyed that this city-state is poised to be a major player in the blockchain arena. His emphasis on blockchain as a catalyst for improving existing business models—not dismantling them—was refreshing. Who knew we were in such capable hands?
Hong Kong: The Crypto Connection
Hong Kong was buzzing! The ever-enthusiastic Simon Dixon enlightened us about how neighboring markets are thriving from Chinese traders seeking greener pastures. He boldly stated that cryptocurrencies and blockchain would flourish right here in Asia. In his hypothetical encounter with Satoshi, he would express gratitude for the revolutionary technology that has the potential to transform sectors far beyond finance.
India: A Mix of Innovative Minds
Our final stop in New Delhi was a melting pot of thoughts and cultures. Nicolas Cary stepped onto the stage to discuss regulation and the protection of consumers. With a diverse crowd featuring students, developers, and investors, this meetup turned out to be a unique confluence of ideas. The questions from the audience were sharp, proving just how keen everyone was to dive deeper into blockchain’s potential.

Reflecting on our adventure, we had over 1,000 guests across our five meetups, each gathering adding a sprinkle of magic to the overall experience. A particularly whimsical moment came courtesy of Philip McMaster, who brought his famous Panda, undeniably making our event more memorable!

Overall, the energy and optimism surrounding blockchain in Asia are nothing short of electrifying. As we gear up for BlockShow Singapore, we can’t help but feel buoyed by the support of the community.
