According to Leto, an alarming vulnerability has existed since Zcash’s inception, potentially allowing the IP addresses tied to users’ shielded addresses (zaddrs) to be exposed.
How Does It Work?
The mechanics of the bug are relatively simple—and frightening. If Alice uses a zaddr to receive a payment from Bob, her IP address could unintentionally be revealed to him. This is a direct violation of the privacy principles Zcash was designed to uphold. Talk about a breach of trust!
