The Yuletide Meltdown: Another Crypto Hack Strikes
December may be known for holiday cheer, but this year it’s brought a wave of chaos to the crypto community. Bent Finance, a rising star in the staking and farming realm, has become its sixth casualty. Just when you thought you could relax with a mug of cocoa and a good book, here comes a heist that’ll have you gripping your mug in terror.
The Hack Attack: What Went Down
On December 21, 2021, at approximately 8:55 PM EST, Bent Finance detected an exploit that set the crypto world on fire. Initially claiming no losses, the black clouds of suspicion gathered quickly. Blockchain investigator PeckShield jumped in, waving a red flag and dropping a curious tweet that suggested the attacker might have ties back to Bent Finance itself:
“We have located the hack tx, which interestingly is sent from the Bent Finance: Deployer!! What is going on?!”
Whodunit? The Pursuit of Truth
Being in the crypto maze is a full-time job for Bent Finance. After acknowledging the hack, they appointed two independent white hat hackers who probably donned their capes and gear for the investigation. In their defense, Bent Finance put out a statement that raised eyebrows and hopes alike:
- “There was an exploit from the bent deployer address…”
- “We just discovered this today.”
