A new survey from API provider Agora reveals what developers think about the Metaverse and its potential for future cryptocurrency transactions. With 300 developers surveyed, the study sheds light on their thoughts and perspectives regarding the digital realm that many believe is set to revolutionize online trading.
The Popularity of Crypto Trading in the Metaverse
According to the survey, a whopping 57% of developers believe that the Metaverse will emerge as the primary platform for cryptocurrency transactions in the future. That’s right, folks – put down the coffee and hold onto your virtual hats because the Metaverse might just take over trading as we know it.
Caution: Data Privacy Ahead
However, not everyone is popping the celebratory confetti just yet. One in three respondents have raised concerns over data privacy and security. Developers are acutely aware that while trading in a virtual world may be exciting, it also introduces challenges that could make even the most seasoned coder sweat.
NFTs: The Currency of Tomorrow?
Shifting gears to nonfungible tokens (NFTs), the question on everybody’s mind is whether they will become the dominant currency within the Metaverse. 53% of survey participants believe in NFTs’ future potential, while 24% expressed skepticism. This is one debate that’s bound to get lively!
The Role of Crypto and Blockchain in the Metaverse
The findings don’t just stop there. The majority of developers recognize that crypto and blockchain innovations will be integral to the Metaverse’s evolution. An impressive 70% agree that advancements in these technologies will critically impact the Metaverse’s development. In other words, if blockchain had a résumé, it would be filled with impressive experiences!
Building Connections: The Human Element
What’s a virtual world without connection? 72% of respondents emphasized the significance of real-time engagement to foster a sense of community in the Metaverse. Meanwhile, 55% believe that we might be looking at a future where the Metaverse replaces real-life interactions altogether. How will that affect those awkward small talk moments we cherish?

As we toss our virtual hats into the ring, it’s worth noting the growing interest among companies looking to set up shop in the Metaverse. Since March 2022, various firms have launched initiatives aimed at leveraging the Metaverse for business meetings, innovation, and customer engagement.
