Community Engagement Through Contests
The Free TON Community is buzzing with excitement as the decentralized blockchain network, branching off from Telegram’s original TON blockchain, kicks off its first round of contests. Beginning this Monday, it’s a call to arms for users, developers, and validators eager to snag some of the coveted TON Crystals—or as we affectionately call them, Tons. And let me tell you, these aren’t just your average participation trophies.
Details of the Contests
Launching on the Free TON forum, community leaders have laid out plans for three distinct contests, each offering a whopping 50,000 Tons for winners, participants, and jurors alike. Mark your calendars: these contests close on May 25. It’s about to get real!
- Soft Majority Voting (SMV) Contest: Tailored for developers and validators, it’s all about making your voices heard—literally!
- DevOps Tools Challenge: If you think your DevOps skills can stand up to the challenge, this one’s for you.
- Airdrop Mechanics Contest: Open to all and sundry, show off your smarts and potentially walk away with some Tons!
Token Distribution Rules
Currently, Free TON contests are the exclusive gateway to these shiny new tokens. In a bid to ensure a fair distribution, the community firmly believes in rewarding meritocratic efforts. Right now, the only way to score those sweet TON Crystals is by playing an active role in these contests, so dust off those coding skills and put your thinking caps on!
Distribution Plans
With over 5 billion TON Crystals in circulation, the distribution strategy is a mix of excitement and strategy. A staggering 85% will find their way to partners and users, with 10% reserved for the developers ensuring everything runs smoothly. Validators will pocket the remaining 5%. Not bad for a day’s work, right?
Regulatory Quagmire for U.S. Participants
Alas, not everything is sunshine and rainbows. U.S. citizens and entities have a bit of a hitch in their plans due to regulatory complications stemming from Telegram’s parent blockchain issues. The airdrop mechanics competition specifies, “Anyone can participate, but Free TON cannot distribute Tons to US citizens or US entities.” But don’t lose hope, as the community is optimistic about a future of inclusivity.
“As we grow to achieve full decentralization, all such barriers will be removed organically,” claimed the Free TON Community.
