Gate.io Users Face Delays Due to Third-Party Cloud Provider Maintenance
Users of the crypto exchange Gate.io are currently experiencing slow deposits and withdrawals due to maintenance work being conducted by a third-party cloud provider. In an announcement released on December 18, the exchange confirmed that the maintenance had impacted transaction speeds, but reassured users that funds remain safe.
Gate.io stated: “At this moment, we are monitoring the network connection status of our cloud service providers and will expedite the deposits and withdrawals as soon as the network connection is restored.” The company is actively working to resolve the issue and restore services for their users.
It’s not clear if these delays are related to ongoing issues with OKX, another crypto exchange impacted by a hardware failure at a Hong Kong data center belonging to its primary infrastructure provider, Alibaba Cloud. As reported by Cointelegraph, OKX faced an outage on December 17 when Alibaba’s Cloud server went offline for over fifteen hours, preventing users from withdrawing and depositing funds.
Although OKX resumed trading services hours after the initial downtime, Gate.io users are still voicing their concerns on social media regarding transaction problems.
Alibaba’s Cloud Services Development
These issues arose shortly after Alibaba announced plans to launch its first Blockchain Node Service in the first quarter of 2023. This service aims to facilitate blockchain application development by providing developers with a platform-as-a-service solution that minimizes operational and maintenance time.
According to Alibaba, the upcoming service will allow node hosts to actively monitor their nodes and automatically switch to backups in case of an outage. “As it doesn’t require hands-on monitoring or problem mitigation, developers are free to concentrate on product development and thus speed up the pace of the product roll-out process,” Alibaba stated.
Alibaba Cloud serves as the digital backbone of the Alibaba Group. Earlier this month, the Avalanche blockchain announced a partnership with Alibaba Cloud’s Node-as-a-Service initiative, marking a move towards enhancing blockchain application services.
