Qiwi Blockchain Technologies Takes a Bold Step
In a move that’s got the crypto world buzzing, Qiwi Blockchain Technologies (QBT) has officially launched a new crypto investment venture called “HASH.” According to a report on June 29 by local news outlet Kommersant, this new initiative is set to shake up how businesses handle fundraising in the digital currency space.
Investment Banking Model Meets Cryptocurrency
HASH is touted as being built on a classic investment banking model, serving as a platform for initial coin offerings (ICO). Yakov Barinsky, QBT’s CFO, has stated that HASH’s purpose is to guide companies through the often bumpy fundraising stage that accompanies startup life. You know, the one where the term “pitching” takes on a whole new meaning.
Teaming Up with International Funds
Barinsky mentioned that HASH is already in cahoots with ten international funds that specialize in crypto asset investments. The big shot of the bunch reportedly handles a whopping turnover of around $100 million. So if you thought fundraising was tough, imagine trying to do it in a world of digital coins!
Crypto Trading on the Horizon
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, HASH also has plans to kickstart crypto trading services as early as next year. This comes once they get the green light—a.k.a. the necessary license—from local regulatory authorities. With the Russian government set to unveil a major regulatory bill related to cryptocurrency and blockchain on July 1, it seems like these plans are falling into place.
Qiwi: A Brief History
Founded in Moscow back in 2007, Qiwi has grown into one of Russia’s leading online payment services, making waves across countries like Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and even the U.S. Previously, Qiwi was named among 39 international firms collaborating with the R3 consortium to trial its know your customer (KYC) application. If only they could KYC people in real life! But I digress.
QBT’s Academic Ventures
In addition to its business endeavors, QBT has dipped its toes into education by opening a private “Blockchain Academy” in partnership with IT educator Scream School. This academy offers a month-long course for IT professionals focusing on the ins and outs of blockchain and developing tech solutions. Talk about a way to get ahead in the digital race!
