In a bold move, global banking titan HSBC has announced plans to launch an institutional custody platform specifically designed for tokenized securities, commonly referred to as security tokens. This strategic venture partners HSBC with Metaco, a technology firm owned by Ripple, effectively integrating their Harmonize platform with HSBC’s forthcoming digital asset custody service.

The bank laid out its timeline for rollout in 2024, coinciding with the launch of its digital asset issuance platform, HSBC Orion, and the recent services for tokenized physical gold that debuted on November 1, 2023.
