Huobi Cuts the Cord: 33 Tokens to be Delisted Because ‘The Party’s Over!’

Huobi’s Big Decision: Who’s on the Chopping Block?

In a move that has crypto enthusiasts shaking their heads (or perhaps just shaking their wallets), Huobi announced on January 11 that they will be delisting an impressive list of 33 tokens. Yes, you heard that right: 33 tokens are officially being shown the door. This means that effective January 16, you won’t be able to trade the likes of ABT, APN, NAS, and the rest of the unfortunate crew. Perhaps it’s time to break out the tiny violins?

What’s Behind the Delisting Drama?

So, what’s the reasoning behind this virtual guillotine? According to Huobi, most of these tokens failed to follow the exchange’s own rules—specifically, Section 17, Rule 1 and Section 17, Rule 2 of their Token Management Regulations. Basically, if you’re racking up less than $50,000 in daily trading volume or are labeled with an “ST” warning, you’re out of luck.

Warnings, Reports, and Trading Volume: Oh My!

Huobi has a fancy way of saying that a lot of these tokens have been slacking off on their reports. These projects need to keep their fans, a.k.a. investors, in the loop. If they miss deadlines for quarterly updates or casual bi-monthly reports, well, you can guess where that leads! This includes:

  • Missing report updates twice in a row.
  • Trading volume that hovers under $50,000 daily for two weeks straight.
  • Other serious violations that rub the Huobi folks the wrong way.

To put it mildly, these tokens have been slapped with more red flags than a bull in Pamplona.

HC Only Got A One-Way Ticket

Notably, one token, HC, is getting a special shout-out for violating Rule 17 of Huobi’s regulations. This rule deals with severe violations and high-risk situations, signaling that HC is in particularly hot water. Looks like it’s true—no one is safe when the rules are on the table!

What’s Next for Huobi?

Currently, Huobi stands tall among exchanges, ranked 17th globally by trading volume. However, amidst widespread layoff rumors, there’s an undeniable cloud hanging over its future. Will Huobi bounce back, or will these aggressive measures signal a larger downward trend? Only time and perhaps a few more token firings will tell!
