Linekong’s Bold Move into the Bitcoin Realm
In an audacious leap into the Bitcoin universe, Linekong Interactive, a gaming and film production powerhouse from Beijing, has announced a hefty investment of $15 million to bolster projects on the Bitcoin network. This announcement was made through the founder, Wang Fang, who took to Twitter on Nov. 8, unveiling the initiative aptly named BTC Next.
The Vision Behind BTC Next
With BTC Next, Linekong aims to accelerate groundbreaking projects within the Bitcoin ecosystem. The fund is set to explore a plethora of avenues, including:
- Asset issuance protocols
- Trading markets
- Expansion initiatives
- Virtual machines
- NFTs
- Real World Assets (RWA)
- GameFi applications
This initiative reflects Wang Fang’s commitment to the Bitcoin ecosystem, asserting that the firm would engage early in research and investments related to Bitcoin ecological assets. He even hinted at publishing their investment portfolios for fans and investors alike.
The Expanding Bitcoin Ecosystem
Historically, Bitcoin has been seen as a relatively stagnant relic since its inception in 2008, lacking the programmability that newer blockchains like Ethereum offer. Thankfully, innovation is in the air! With the introduction of Ordinals and Inscriptions, Bitcoin users can now mint unique digital assets directly on the blockchain. Talk about a glow-up!
BRC-20 Tokens: The New Kids on the Block
Furthermore, the growing interest in BRC-20 tokens—modeled on Ethereum’s ERC-20 standard—has captured the market’s attention. Recent developments include:
- Cross-chain wallet BitKeep (now known as Bitget Wallet) adding support for BRC-20 deposits and withdrawals.
- Binance listing the BRC-20 token Ordinals (ORDI) on Nov. 7, which sent its value skyrocketing by over 40% in a single day.
Since their launch, BRC-20 tokens have amassed a market capital of $1.36 billion. It’s safe to say that Bitcoin’s initial perceptions are shifting faster than a Game of Thrones plot twist!
The Man Behind the Madness
Wang Fang’s journey with Linekong began in 2007 as an online gaming enterprise. After making an impressive debut on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2014, he stepped down as CEO in 2018 to delve into blockchain. He embraced several projects within NFTs and decentralized finance before returning to the helm of Linekong in 2022, ready to merge traditional gaming with the excitement of Web3.
With ambitions as bold as a summer blockbuster, the future of Linekong and Bitcoin seems intertwined in a thrilling way. It’s a storyline worth following!
