Navigating the Bitcoin Cash Support Maze: Wallets and Exchanges That Actually Deliver

The Aftermath of the August 1 Hard Fork

When Bitcoin Cash (BCH) sprang into existence on August 1, 2017, it was a wild ride for Bitcoin users. Those who got BCH after the hard fork found they could stow it away safely in a few elite wallets. While Bitcoin itself soared to dizzying new heights post-fork, BCH’s growth story looked more like a roller coaster stuck on the ground.

Which Wallets Are in the BCH Game?

Currently, the wallet elite supporting Bitcoin Cash includes:

  • BTC.com – Early birds in the BCH wallet scene.
  • BitGo – User-friendly reincarnation after high demand.
  • Trezor – The sturdy hardware choice that faced hurdles.

Technical Woes: Trezor’s Struggle

Trezor, the heavyweight champ of Bitcoin hardware wallets, didn’t have a walk in the park while integrating BCH. The development team provided an inside look in a blog post, revealing they stumbled upon some rather troubling technical snafus. “Addresses were losing their minds, showing negative balances—like a bank account after a wild night out!” they might as well have said. This led to delays as the devs scrambled to sort through the digital mess before launching their wallets.

BitGo and BTC.com: The Early Supporters

BitGo caught on quickly after users clamored for BCH support. They enabled full deposits and withdrawals, making it easier for holders to manage their crypto stash. BTC.com, for its part, made headlines by becoming one of the first platforms to embrace BCH, offering a dedicated interface for easy interaction. “Sending, receiving, and storing Bitcoin Cash is now as easy as pie,” they cheered on their website.

The Reluctance of Exchanges

Despite the growing interest, many well-known exchanges and wallets, including Coinbase, hesitated to step into the BCH waters. Trezor summarized their concerns: the bugs and potential for transactions to go awol made it a risky venture. Time was of the essence, but there just weren’t enough hours in the day to secures the safe passage of BCH through their wallets.
