Polygon Surges Past 37,000 DApps as Developer Activity Soars

Explosive Growth in DApps

The Polygon network has officially crossed the remarkable milestone of 37,000 decentralized applications (DApps), showcasing a staggering 400% growth since the beginning of 2022. In a blog post released by the Polygon team, these impressive statistics were pulled from their collaboration with Alchemy, a Web3 development platform. This total indicates the cumulative amount of DApps launched across both the testnet and the mainnet. Who knew numbers could be this exciting?

Developer Engagement on the Rise

As if the DApp boom wasn’t enough, the number of monthly active developer teams reached a jaw-dropping 11,800 by the end of July. This reflects a substantial increase of 47.5% since March. It appears that developers are not just showing up; they’re throwing full-on dance parties!

Breaking Down the DApps

A closer look at the DApps unveiled that 74% of development teams are exclusively using Polygon. This reflects a strategic decision, as many developers are opting to build solely on this increasingly popular platform. Meanwhile, 26% of teams are still dabbling between both Polygon and Ethereum, probably keeping their options open.

Big Names on the Blockchain

Polygon’s Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain isn’t just attracting any projects; it’s become home to a plethora of high-profile brands in the cryptocurrency space. Notable names include the NFT marketplace OpenSea, Metaverse spaces like Decentraland and The Sandbox, and the DeFi lending platform Aave, as well as gaming powerhouse Animoca Brands. You could say it’s the exclusive clubhouse of the crypto world!

Impressive Usage Statistics

The blog post also highlighted the extensive usage statistics for DApps on Polygon, reporting more than 142 million unique user addresses and $5 billion of assets secured on the platform. Don’t forget the cherry on top: around 1.6 billion transactions have been processed! Polygon’s CEO, Ryan Wyatt, took to Twitter to marvel at this growth, commenting on the fruitful year the network has been having.

Partnerships Driving Success

This surge in DApp development can be predominantly linked to Polygon’s partnership with Alchemy. Since teaming up in June 2021, the number of DApps skyrocketed from 3,000 in October to 37,000 today. That’s not just growth; that’s a rocket launch! Also worth noting is how Alchemy provides essential tools for developers, enabling smoother operations and incident management on the network.
