Survey Highlights
Ryan X. Charles, founder of Yours, recently conducted a survey on Twitter which ignited quite the buzz in the cryptocurrency community. With over 4,000 respondents, the question was simple yet profound: which Bitcoin chain would reign supreme after the hard fork?
The results? A whopping 84% declared their loyalty to the original Bitcoin chain. It seems like when it comes to a split in the crypto community, the original is still the gold standard—or should I say Bitcoin standard?
SegWit2x: The Controversial Hard Fork
SegWit2x has been nothing short of a soap opera in the crypto world. With businesses and personalities weighing in left and right, it’s hard to keep track. The survey results signal a growing resistance to the hard fork, reflecting a deeper sentiment among crypto enthusiasts.
The Anti-SegWit2x Front
Even major players like Nick Szabo have thrown their hats into the ring, publicly opposing SegWit2x by adding the banner of #NO2X to their profiles. Szabo’s silent opposition had been brewing prior, but his recent move gives the anti-fork camp a little extra cred. It seems even the crypto elite are in the mood to roll their eyes at this hard fork.
Embarrassing Moments for Ryan X. Charles
Let’s not forget, these results could be a tad embarrassing for Charles himself. Just months prior, he shifted Yours to Bitcoin Cash. Talk about a dramatic turn! In his defense, he argued that Bitcoin Cash met the transaction speed and fee expectations necessary for his app to thrive.
The Future of Bitcoin
As we inch closer to December, the ever-burning question remains – which chain will truly be called “Bitcoin”? While the survey offers a glimpse of popular opinion, one must exercise a little skepticism regarding survey authenticity in this volatile space. Nonetheless, as the dust settles, voters will have their say in where Bitcoin heads next.
