A Whale of a Wallet
In the wild waters of Axie Infinity, one wallet has surfaced as a true mystery. For almost a year, this anonymous account has been quietly amassing an eye-watering total of over 22 billion Smooth Love Potion (SLP), the lifeblood of the play-to-earn gaming universe. Imagine swimming in a sea of digital cash, and then someone shows up with a massive treasure chest of thousands of coins!
Who’s Pulling the Strings?
Gaming enthusiast and tech guru Michael Benko was the first to sound the alarm regarding this wallet. Distrust began brewing when he noticed this mysterious stash on August 25. You could almost hear the dramatic music build up in the background as he pondered the implications:
“The significance of a wallet holding so much SLP gives that person huge control over an economy — especially in a world where minting tokens is harder than convincing your cat to take a bath.”
What’s The Deal with Those 22 Billion SLP?
So, what can possibly be done with such a colossal amount of SLP? For the average Axie Infinity player, earning 10 to 70 SLP daily is based on their game skills. With our mystery wallet, one could potentially keep the price flat or manipulate it just for kicks — like a digital puppet master pulling on the strings of an economy!
Is It Really a Mystery?
Initially, Benko suspected this wallet could belong to Axie Infinity itself, a system for distributing SLP to eager players. However, Sky Mavis co-founder Aleksander Larson shattered those hopes faster than a bad pun, clarifying,
“All tokens have been created by players, and we don’t hold any.”
What’s Going On with Binance?
After much speculation, it was revealed on August 31 that the wallet actually belongs to a Binance Ronin gateway contract. Despite this, there are still questions. Gabby Dizon from Yield Guild Games weighs in, considering it is more likely a liquidity wallet for exchanges rather than a plush storage for Axie Infinity. “We typically use all our minted SLP for breeding,” she explained, leading to more head-scratching among users. So, Binance is steering the ship, but how did they let it get this far?
