The Tech-Savvy Approach to Tracking
Thanks to sophisticated investigative techniques, authorities were able to trace Bitcoin transactions effectively. The IRS-Criminal Investigations division, Homeland Security Investigations, and other organizations utilized state-of-the-art software from the blockchain analysis firm Chainalysis. IRS-CI Chief Don Fort praised their efforts, stating, “Through the sophisticated tracing of bitcoin transactions, we were able to determine the location of the Darknet server…” This tech-savvy approach marks a significant leap in how authorities can combat online crime, turning the very tools criminals use against them.
