The Crypto Surge Among Young Women

A recent survey reveals that traditional asset classes have struggled to gain traction among women, but cryptocurrencies have become a surprising ally. According to data shared by eToro, crypto now proudly sits as the second most popular asset class for young women aged 18-34—just behind cash. Who would’ve thought?

Survey Insights: A Growing Ownership

The Retail Investor Beat survey, conducted across 13 countries with around 10,000 global retail investors, sheds light on this growing trend. The ownership of cryptocurrencies among young women has jumped from 29% in Q3 of 2022 to 34% by the last quarter. eToro calls this “succeeding where traditional financial markets have sometimes failed”—and it’s hard to disagree!

Men: The Slow Movers

While women are onboarding at a brisk pace, the boys seem to be lagging behind. Ownership among men aged 18-34 ticked up only by one percent during the same period. If this trend continues, we might need to start calling it a ‘lady crypto revolution’!

Overall Growth in Crypto Adoption

Despite being labeled as last year’s worst-performing asset class, the number of global investors owning crypto climbed from 36% to 39%. This increase isn’t solely due to the new wave of female adopters; older investors aged 35-54 have also gotten into the action, with a 5% rise in ownership among these groups. Looks like everyone is trying to catch the crypto train, no matter the age!

What’s Driving This Interest?

So, why the sudden interest in digital currencies among retail investors, especially women? According to the survey:

  • 37% of participants believe in the potential for high returns.
  • 34% are convinced of the transformative power of blockchain technology.

As the saying goes, sometimes you’ve got to risk it to get the biscuit!

Businesses Join the Blockchain Party

Interestingly, it’s not just individuals diving into the blockchain pool. A recent survey of 603 businesses found that a staggering 90% have already implemented blockchain technology in some form. It seems like everyone wants a piece of this digital pie!
