XRP Community Turns Sarcastic Amid Frustrations Over Ripple’s Selling Strategy

From Sincere Calls to Sarcastic Demands

The XRP community is undergoing a transformation that would make even the most hardened cynic chuckle. Gone are the days of earnest petitions; now, members are trading in their subtleties for a healthy dose of sarcasm. This change has been epitomized in a new petition titled “Ripple Must Increase the ‘Dumping of XRP'” which has garnered over 200 signatures by September 5th. It’s a humorous approach to a serious issue: the endless concern over Ripple’s alleged tendency to dump excessive amounts of XRP, leaving community members feeling more than a bit jilted.

“Unleash the Utility!”

With a title that can only be described as tongue-in-cheek, the petition kicks off with an unforgettable proclamation, “This is a race towards mass adoption. XRP is a tool that can solve many of the world’s problems.” The petition humorously argues that XRP is essentially mindless without circulation and urges Ripple to increase its strategic sales. “Get the greatest digital asset ever created into the hands of people that can use it,” the petition states, a phrase that perfectly exemplifies its ironic undertone.

Taking Aim at CEO Garlinghouse

Irony may be this petition’s true currency. The creator, who jovially signs off as “Jungle Inc,” directly references Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, who recently defended Ripple’s sales strategy. In a tweet, he asserted, “XRP sales are about helping expand XRP’s utility […] Reality is we DECREASED our sales by volume Q/Q.” Clearly, the community is taking liberty with these remarks to voice their frustrations in a roundabout, yet entertaining, manner.

Community Frustration Erupts on Twitter

The wave of sarcasm is rapid, with several Twitter users echoing the sentiment. A recent tweet cynically draws parallels between Bitcoin and XRP, with one user complaining, “#XRP: Our CEO overlords keep dumping on us, diluting supply. Petition not working.” Irony has become the community’s preferred avenue of expression, showcasing their exasperation with a sprinkle of humor.

The Other Side of the Coin: Genuine Initiatives

On a more serious note, another petition launched by the Twitter personality @CryptoBitlord, titled “Stop Ripple dumping,” has achieved over 3,200 signatures, reflecting the more earnest side of the XRP community. This movement has escalated to threats of community takeovers if Ripple does not take the members’ concerns seriously. However, amidst this tumult, it’s clear that humor has found a home in their outrage, revealing a complex landscape of emotional investment in this digital asset.

The Ripple Effect of Market Moves

Ripple has consistently revealed numbers that indicate an upward trend in XRP sales—around 48% quarter-to-quarter as of late July. The discontent within the community seems to transcend mere frustration; it carries an undertone of concern about market dilution, making it clear that while humor might be a coping mechanism, the worries are very real.
